LEADERSHIP
Ministry at Dundalk Baptist Church is led by elders, facilitated by deacons, and carried out by every member of our congregation.
The New Testament establishes two leadership roles within the church: elders and deacons. Elders are entrusted with the spiritual care of the congregation, while deacons attend to practical and physical needs. Together, they ensure that our people receive holistic ministry — to both soul and body.
Our Pastors
Jesus calls qualified men to lead his church as elders — a role the New Testament also describes as pastor or overseer.
The qualifications for this office, outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1, include faithful family leadership, a proven record of serving Jesus in both church and daily life, a thorough knowledge of Scripture, a mature walk with Christ, and a good reputation among believers and unbelievers alike.
The responsibilities of elders include prayer and the study of Scripture, setting the direction of the church, preaching and teaching, shepherding and caring for the congregation, living exemplary lives, guarding against false doctrine and teachers, and raising up future leaders.
PASTOR
MICHAEL EMADI
Michael has served as lead pastor since 2023, having been commissioned by Heritage Church in Owensboro, Kentucky as a missionary to Ireland in 2014, where he served as assistant pastor under founding pastor Stephen Murphy. Originally from Utah, he was converted around age 9, later served in the U.S. Air Force as an Intelligence Officer, and holds an M.Div. and M.A. in Biblical Languages. He also serves as a professor of biblical languages at Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary and Reformed Baptist Seminary. Michael is married to Ashley and they have three children: Liam, Lorelai, and Méav.
PASTOR
LESLIE SLYE
Les has served as a lay pastor since 2023. Before coming to faith, his wife Maria faithfully held prayer meetings in their home, and Les' conversion around 12 years ago stands as a beautiful answer to those prayers. Les is currently finishing a B.Div. at Reformed Baptist Seminary and is about to start an M.Div Programme. Les loves the Lord, the Word, and helping people grow in their faith.
Les is married to Maria and they have one daughter, Michaela. He is well known for his culinary skills and hospitality, and enjoys reading.
Our Deacons
Jesus calls qualified men to serve his church as deacons. The word deacon in the New Testament is derived from a Greek word meaning “servant” — and that spirit of servant-heartedness defines the role.
The qualifications for deacons, outlined in 1 Timothy 3, include integrity, generosity, sobriety, a clear understanding of scripture, a well-ordered home, and a good reputation among both believers and unbelievers.
The office of deacon is first introduced in Acts 6. As the early church grew, elders found themselves stretched across the demands of prayer, study, teaching, and leadership — while also managing the practical and physical needs of the congregation. To address this, the church appointed deacons to come alongside them and share in those responsibilities.
At Dundalk Baptist Church, our deacons serve in that same spirit — supporting the elders by attending to the day-to-day physical needs of the church, so that the whole congregation can be well cared for.
